M - Bernard Lee

Following his staged 'death' designed to deceive his enemies, Bond meets with M to discuss the disappearance of Soviet and US space craft. M warns 007 that this is the 'big one', and he is not overstating the case. If Bond does not resolve the crisis, a nuclear war is imminent. The scenes between 007 and his superior are far too brief this time, leaving the viewer desiring more of the expected by-play. However, we do get to see M in his naval uniform for the first and only time in the series.
