M - Robert Brown

M is seen on a field assignment in his plane above the Rock of Gibraltar. Here, he sends the 00s on a training mission by having them parachute over the rock and try to take over a military installation below. M later dismisses Bond's suspicions that his assignment to kill Pushkin is part of a double-cross by Koskov. Although this sequence should be tense (as in the Bond/M confrontations in 'Goldfinger' and 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'), Robert Brown is far too avuncular in the role to give much bite to M.
