R (Q's assistant)- John Cleese

In the hands of a less skilled actor, this Inspector Clouseau type role could easily be played over the top. However, John Cleese brings some brief but refreshing homour to the film. He bumbles his way through the obligatory demonstration off 007's new hardware and gadgets, all the while enduring sarcastic criticisms from Q, and while he has an unenviable task in taking over from the beloved Desmond Llewelyn, Cleese will undoubtedly make his own unique brand of humour a mainstay of future Bond films.
